Thanks to the blog Beach Tapes for introducing me to Sonny & the Sunsets, just in time too. Apparently they will be appearing at the Pitchfork Music Festival this weekend. I'll have to add them to my schedule. Their California Americana should be a nice change of pace from Neon Indian and the lot.

I love that there's a blog called Beach Tapes. Sounds like a chillwave moniker. It probably links to Washed Indian, Best Wavves, and Memory Y Moi.
hahaha exactly what I was thinking. people are getting ridiculous with this nostalgia-tape-beach-related wave of chill.
did you check out any of them Sonny & and the Sunsets tracks?
Haven't been able to yet. Picked up the new MIA, R.E.M.'s Fables of the Reconstruction reissue (saddled with a good-but-not-good-enough 8.5 in the 'fork) and "Rip It Off" from Times New Viking today. Also have to make my way through the new Blitzen Trapper and Deer Tick, which I will hopefully have digested on the plane tomorrow to Chicago.
I haven't gotten the new Blitzen Trapper or Deer Tick.
Been listening to the Tame Impala album a lot.
Sonny & the Sunsets "Too Young To Burn" would probably be in my top 5 songs of the year, but I was privy to it in 09. They released their album as a vinyl-only last year, and it got enough traction to garner a major-indie label re-release.
Oh, it's good though.
